If you’re a student with an interest in space at Uppsala University, we are the association for you. No matter your prior knowledge, or which program you’re studying, Astronomiska Föreningen is sure to have something you’ll be interested in!
About us
We are a student association at Uppsala University and are a part of Space Students Sweden. We were founded in 1924, which makes us the oldest student assocation for astronomy in Sweden. Despite our long history, the main idea in our purpose is unchanged:
“…… spread knowledge of the findings of astronomical science and new advances, and promote interest in astronomy and space travel in Uppsala.”
The association’s bylaws – §1.1
In practice, this means that we organize a wide range of events for all students with an interest in space, regardless of level or specific prior knowledge.

Observations
Join us during spring and autumn on our observation evenings! Here you get to experience a starry sky beyond the light pollution of the city center with telescopes, star guides and barbecue coziness.
Lectures
Take part in regular lectures on current research in astronomy and space travel! Always with a good sense of community, coffee and the opportunity to ask questions to researchers.

Membership
As a member, you always have free admission to our events and can read the association’s membership letter! Registration is free of charge and you also become a member of the associations Space Students Sweden and Astronomisk Ungdom, which means, among other things, a free issue of Populär Astronomi.
