Aurora Space Camp

30 March – 2 April | Kiruna, Sweden

Aurora Space Student Camp is the first-ever student camp organized by Space Students Sweden, a student-driven organization affiliated with Astronomisk Ungdom.

The camp is designed to inspire and motivate university students with an interest in space, while creating a unique opportunity for learning, exploration, and networking. And of course, Aurora Space Camp includes some unique study visits as well as the opportunity to experience the beauty of Northern Sweden, and hopefully the Aurora Borealis!

Location & Dates

Location: Kiruna, Sweden
Dates: 30 March – 2 April 2026
Duration: 3 nights

The camp officially starts on Monday, 30 March, with a study visit to the LKAB mine in Kiruna.

  • Gathering time: 11:30 
  • Visit starts: 12:30 
  • The camp will officially end with a dinner on the first of April and we will travel home the following day.

Programme overview

The programme is fully planned but rearrangements can occur, including accommodation, visits, and lectures.

Highlights include: 

  • Study visit to the LKAB mine in Kiruna
  • Study visit to Esrange Space Center (SSC)
  • 2–3 guest lectures
  • A shared closing dinner on the final evening
  • Time to explore the city
  • Social events
  • And more…

Accomodation & Meals

Accommodation is in two rented apartments, with space for 8 people per apartment.
Most rooms are shared, but a limited number of private rooms are available

  • Included meals:
    • 3 breakfasts
    • 2 lunches (lunch on Monday is not included, as the programme starts at 12:00)
    • 1 dinner (the closing dinner)
    • Daily fika

Other dinners are at your own expense and the accommodations have kitchens.

Travel

  • Participants book their own travel to and from Kiruna at their own expense. 
    • You should arrive before 11:30 on march 30th
    • On April 2nd there are no activities planned
  • All local transportation during the camp is included. 

Participation fee

  • The participation fee is 2000 SEK
  • This includes
    • Accomodation (3 nights)
    • 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner
    • Daily fika
    • All lectures and study visits
    • Local transportation during the camp

Who can participate?

  • To participate in Aurora Space Camp you need to be above 18 years old and a member of any association within Space Students Sweden. You can become a member here if you aren’t already.

Note that transportation to and from Kiruna is NOT included in the price and must be booked separately

Refund policy:
If you choose to cancel your registration before the application deadline you will recieve a refund minus 100 SEK in booking fee. After the application deadline, we cannot guarantee a refund.
